Comparing databases with diffrerent file names

Testing version 6.
I am trying to compare to editions of the same solution. They are almost identical, but have different file names.

It seems to me that the generated comparison report lists all items in the new solution as changed because of this.
Is there a way to do the compare og do I have to edit the DDR files before importing?

    Hi.

Can I assume then that this functionally is supported and that there is something wrong with my setup?

    1. Mac
    2. 10.11.5
    3. 16v1
    4. Version 6. Downloaded today.

    Best,
    Andreas

    Andreas,

InspectorPro relies on the database name as part of the information to determine if something is different.

In the current shipping version there is no way to compare 2 analysis if the databases have different names.

I’ll look into ways that we could accomplish this in the future.

    Thanks

    Ok, thanks.
I can do a replace in the XML files before importing as a workaround.

    Andreas,

You might not need to do that… maybe just chasing the file names to the original ones should be enough and save you some effort.

Yeah, in this case though, the files are hosted.

Ok thinking of a way to do this… what if you had some interface when comparing say File A with File B…

That you could have some sort of mapping … you see File A but you want to compare it to File B.

If you knew before you process the next DDR. That would save you some processing time.

I’ll see what I can think up for this. But it would be up to you to map them as we could not assume anything.

    That could work.
When I need to do such comparisons, I already know which files I am going to compare when I generate the DDR's so I can "pair" them in such an interface without problem.

    Andreas,

Trying to make it the most intuitive is the hard part ;)
